Join Our Team. Make a Difference. Be a Volunteer.
Community Hospital of San Bernardino offers a variety of opportunities for individuals who wish to volunteer. Volunteering is a great way to contribute to the community, gain experience working in a hospital setting, and make a difference in the lives of others. Whether you are a high school or college student, are recently retired, or someone who just has spare time and wants to do something fulfilling, we have an opportunity for you.
Former Community Hospital Administrator Virginia Henderson founded the Auxiliary in 1958. Today our membership based Auxiliary is still strong, providing needed volunteer services and providing fundraising efforts for the hospital. You will see our Auxiliary members assisting patients and visitors at the front desk, working in the Gift Shop, sharing their talents in the craft workshop, and assisting in fundraising activities. Not only do our Auxiliary members gain fulfillment through helping others, but they forge strong and lasting friendships with one another.
Adult (Non-Student) Volunteers
Whether you have spare time during the week or on the weekend, or are between jobs and would like to stay active and busy, we would like you to experience the fulfillment that comes from giving back to your community and caring for others. Our adult volunteers provide a wide variety of service throughout the hospital including assisting patients and family members and providing much needed clerical/administrative assistance to many of our hospital departments, Special programs adult volunteers may have interest in include the No One Dies Alone (NODA), and Caring Companions Programs.
Student Volunteers (Ages 16-24)
Through Community Hospital of San Bernardino’s Stepping Stones program teen and young adult volunteers have the opportunity to gain valuable hospital workplace experience. Whether you are looking to fulfill school community service requirements or are looking for an internship or work experience, the staff of Community Hospital’s Stepping Stones program works closely with everyone who enrolls, providing you with the tools you need to get ahead. At the same time you are learning new skills, making new friends and experiencing the health care environment up close. You will also be building your resume and providing real-life assistance. All you need to become a participant is enthusiasm and a desire to learn.
If you, or someone you know is interested in any of these programs, please download and review our Volunteer Applications or contact our Volunteer Services Department at 909.806.1260.
