Founding Hospital Auxiliary Member Celebrates 100th Birthday
Virginia Martin has volunteered at Community Hospital of San Bernardino since 1958. As one of the auxiliary's founding "Pink Ladies" she has worked at the lobby's front desk, the crafts room and escorting patients to appointments. She was involved in the star-studded 1958 fundraiser Sammy Davis Jr. held at the National Orange Show as special thanks for the care he received at the hopsital after an automobile accident.
After 53 years, you can still find Virginia in the gift shop, opening boxes, pricing items and making selections from catalogues.
"I love it. I would miss it. I keep in touch with people I know and enjoy what I'm doing," she said.
On Thursday, September 8, Virginia turned 100 years old and to celebrate the hospital had a surprise party in her honor, complete with cake, the Mayor, hospital staff members and members of Virginia's family.

CHSB FLIES THE FLAG FOR DONATION
Community Hospital of San Bernardino is one of a number of hospitals in the state and across the country who proudly fly the Donate Life flag. There are over 20,000 people in California alone who are in need of a new heart, liver, lungs, kidney and more. One organ donor can make a tremendous difference. That's why we proudly fly the flag to encourage people to become organ donors.

Centennial Gala: 100 Years Celebration!
WHAT A NIGHT!
On October 23, Community Hospital of San Bernardino celebrated our 100th birthday. There was dancing, laughter, awards and lots of good food.
Held at the National Orange Show, the sold-out event included performances by Buddy Schwimmer's Studio 5-6-7-8 dancers with a surprise performance by Benji Schwimmer, a winner from "So You Think You Can Dance." There was also an awards ceremony where six recipients were recognized for their outstanding contributions to our hospital. The ceremony included a special acknowledgement and plaque given to each recipient. These recipients came from many different walks of life: a physician, a volunteer, a congressman, a member of the clergy, an educator and an entertainer.
Also recognized was our Centennial Sponsor, San Manuel Band of Mission Indians.
